Our Approach |
|
We provide care to all our clients to a high standard of excellence which embraces fundamental principles of good care practice. We seek to ensure that this may be witnessed and evaluated through practice, conduct and control of quality. It is a fundamental ethos that those who live and receive support from the service should be able to do so in accordance with Horizon's Vision of Care and Company Values.

A Positive Approach to Care |
Horizon's staff are trained in Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care (PAC). PAC is centred on the concept “until there is a cure there is care”. It extolls that carers should recognise that it is the responsibility of the care provider to change their approach to the person living with dementia rather than seek their change. It focuses on reducing pharmacological intervention and maps the impact of changes in the brain as a result of dementia to skills to aid understanding of the progressive nature of the disease. Horizon is one of a handful of care provider’s in the country who has qualified training staff available.
